College Details:
Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) is an Autonomous Institution, created in the year 2001 with the agreement of VTU Government of Karnataka.

The institute offers wide range of academic programs comprising of seven Under Graduate and Five Post Graduate in Engineering besides MBA and MCA. Six Departments of college are offering Doctoral Programs of VTU / Mysore University.

Master of Computer Applications (MCA):
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three-year (Six Semester) program after the graduation. This course has been designed to cope with the ever-increasing demand for computer personnel in almost all occupations, especially in the IT sector.

MCA course is the most popular choice of Indian students who are looking for a bright career in the IT sector. This course can be joined after completion of BCA course. Many students also join that course because BCA does not offer as many career options as MCA course offers.
MCA course gives only a fundamental knowledge of computer languages, which is not sufficient for getting a wonderful job in IT sector. Besides this, it does not give optimized environment which MCA offers. Therefore, MCA course has its own significance.

MCA Department:
MCA Department of Niite Meenakshi Institute of Technology was started in the year 2006 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per annum subsequently the intake has been increased to 120 for the academic year 2012-13. The program is recognized by AICTE and is affiliated to VTU Belgaum.

The primary objective of this program is to train the graduate students so as to cater for the growing needs of various disciplines of Information Technology, with adequate technical and management skills to handle computer applications, software problem solving situations and develop analytical skills. The department aims at promoting a scientific approach and capability to undertake managerial responsibility in Computer Applications Business.

The Department carries out placement activities through industry contacts and campus interviews. Beginning in the fourth semester and extending till graduation day, the Department organizes various placement activities for graduating MCA seniors. Vigorous training programs, mock tests etc., are conducted to prepare our students to be 'placement-worthy'.

Entrance exam eligibility: PGCET/K-MAT

Admission Procedure:
Admission to MCA course shall be open for the candidates who have passed bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with not less than 50% (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted) of the marks in aggregate of all the years of the degree examination, with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Computer Programming/ Computer Applications/ Business Mathematics/ Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects/ electives at degree level. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST and Category-1, the aggregate percent of the marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall not be less than 45%. (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted).

Provided further that a candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the first proviso in the Pre University Course with 50% of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST and Category-1, 45%. (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted) of marks in that subject shall be considered for admission.
